PSAT/NMSQT = Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This is one test, not two (the name can be confusing, I know). Click here for more information on this test.
All CMHS juniors are eligible to take the PSAT/NMSQT; however, it is not a required test. This test measures knowledge and skills learned in high school as well as determines one's potential success in college and beyond.
Test takers receive two things: 1) a PSAT score, which demonstrates how well one might score on the SAT, and 2) a National Merit Scholarship score. Students who score high enough on the NMSQT index may be eligible for a National Merit Scholarship (NMS) as well as many other scholarships. Click here to view potential scholarship opportunities.
