REMINDER: Elks Lodge Scholarships--up to $50,000!

Seniors,

There are three scholarship opportunities through our local Elks Lodge that I want to remind you of:

1. Monthly Opportunity (only have to apply one time to be considered each month--email Mrs. Parnell for an application)

Elks Lodge #122 Scholarship Applicant

To quickly evaluate your application and submit as potential monthly winner, please adhere to the following:

  • Fill out thoroughly and verify all information submitted as accurate

  • Be timely in returning application (due 15thof each month) – bring to Elks Lodge #122 on Preston Ave in Shreveport, or mail to Elks Lodge #122 310 E. Preston Ave., Shreveport, LA 71105 OR if filled out electronically, email to Ruby Blackwell, the scholarship committee chair at duchessruby@aol.com

  • You need ONLY to submit once to be considered each month in the case of your OVERALL Evaluation score is higher than those submitted in later months even if not higher than recipient of the month for which you submitted.

  • Scholarships certificates will be awarded in May 2022 and actual awarded scholarship amount will be sent to college of choice upon proof of registration into that college.

2. Most Valuable Student (MVS) Contest: Due Date is 11/15/2021 (up to $50,000)

The 2022 MVS application is now open. Applications can be found online at enf.elks.org/MVS (Links to an external site.). The application deadline is November 15, 2021.

The Elks National Foundation (ENF) awards 500 four-year scholarships based on academics, leadership, and financial need. National awards range from $1,000 per year to $12,500 per year. The national awards will announced in April 2022. This is not to be confused with our Student of the Month Scholarship which continues from September through April with monthly deadlines on the15th of each month.

MVS scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), at a U.S. college or university next school year. Some important applicant details include:

  • Current high school seniors (or equivalent) who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.

  • Applicants do not have to be related to a member of the Elks.

  • Male and female students compete separately.

Applicants select from a list of the Lodges closest to their home address zip code. Please have your students choose Shreveport, Lodge #122 as their sponsoring Lodge. Complete details can be found at enf.elks.org/MVS (Links to an external site.).

3. Legacy Awards: Due Date 02/07/2022

The Legacy Awards program begins on September 1, 2021. Legacy Awards provide $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elk members.
